Indianiste, védisant, grammairien et philologue, Michel Angot a travaillé en Inde et a appris auprès d'érudits (pandits) la récitation du Veda et la grammaire traditionnelle. Il a enseigné le sanskrit et la littérature sanskrite à l’université de Nanterre (Paris-X puis à l’Inalco.
